Düsseldorf (DE), November 29, 2018 – Niccolò Galli, ESR3, presented during the 2nd Competition Law and Economics PhD Seminar at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE), a leading academic centre of Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf (HHU).

The Competition Law and Economics PhD Seminars are a joint initiative of DICE and of the Chair for European Competition Law of HHU. According to the organisers Astrid KiekertAnja Rösner (both PhD Candidates in competition economics at DICE) and Tristan Rohner (PhD Candidate in competition law at HHU) the seminars should bridge the gap between competition law and economics disciplines by providing an informal venue to discuss topics of common interest.

Each seminar involves two presentations by young researchers, one economist and one lawyer. This time, Niccolò explained the competition law challenges posed by the exercise of intellectual property rights, focussing on patent aggregation activities. On the economics side, Fang Liu (PhD Candidate at DICE) introduced the audience to the principles of game theory also by letting it play a game scenario in practice!
